ASTM International, a globally recognized leader in the development and delivery of international voluntary consensus standards, has elected Dan Janikowski to be a member of its Board of Directors beginning in 2013.

Known for its leadership in international standards development, ASTM is driven by the contributions of its members whose representation spans 150 countries. ASTM members are the some of the world’s top technical experts and professionals in their respective industries and their contributions help develop test methods, specifications, guidelines and practices that support industries and governments worldwide.

As a member of the ASTM Board of Directors, Mr. Janikowski will serve for a total of 3 years with bi-annual meetings to discuss ASTM standards. “What differentiates ASTM from other industry standard organizations is its breadth and recognition worldwide. ASTM itself is probably the most used group of specifications for any product that I’ve seen anywhere. [ASTM] tries to be very flexible to understand what each industry requires. Other specifications don’t do that,” says Mr. Janikowski.

Mr. Janikowski has been involved in metals development, and manufacturing and testing of tubular products including copper alloys, stainless steels, nickel alloys, titanium, and carbon steels for over 35 years. Having been with Plymouth Tube since 2005, Mr. Janikowski has held various senior-level positions before becoming technical manager in 2010. Mr. Janikowski was previously a general manager with Trent Tube from 2000 until its acquisition by Plymouth Tube in 2005.

Mr. Janikowski has held numerous membership and leadership positions in various industry organizations including NACE and the ASME Ferrous Materials subcommittee. He has authored several papers on the topics of materials selection, corrosion, and testing for pipe and tube and currently has three patents. Mr. Janikowski has a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Illinois.
